About Us

The Weatherstaff PlantingPlanner CD is designed and produced by Topdisk Ltd, a software company based in Gloucestershire.

We are a husband and wife team, with previous careers in IT and teaching respectively and a shared perfectionist streak! Moving, 10 years ago, to a new house in the country with a blank canvas for a garden provided the impetus for a change of direction and the development of the Weatherstaff PlantingPlanner.

Planning our very first border threw up a plethora of choices and hours of agonising decision-making. What we needed was a computer program to handle all those decisions for us. A program which would have held our hands through our first forays into the world of gardening and yet provide the plant choices and exciting combinations that, as burgeoning keen plants-people, we were beginning to appreciate. A program with an obsessional attention to detail and a comprehensive, hand-holding Help system. Above all, we wanted to create something which reflected the intelligent ‘randomness’ of a knowledgeable garden designer.

And so the Weatherstaff PlantingPlanner was born. We wish you many hours of fun in your own garden.

Thank you for the PlantingPlanner. I had my first look at it last night. It has the most gorgeous photos in it.

At last I have the tools to plant up some wonderful borders - perhaps I will start with the rather bare and neglected bank outside my office window!  Also think the detail included on each plant is brilliant. Can we have a section on rabbit proof plants next please?
